Information Giving/Support

Consultation, Wednesday 31st October 10am – 12pm, at Project Art Works Did you come along to the last Summit and share your aspirations for Personalisation? We’re creating a Charter of Ambition and Rights which includes your aspirations for person-centred support, housing, community life, health and well-being alongside key legislation to back these up. 

Family Employer workshop, Wednesday 14th November, 2 – 4pm, Project Art Works. Join Peer Support Network families and share your experience of managing provision through personalised budgets or Personal Health Budgets or Direct Payments. If you employ care and support staff (through a personal budget from health or social care), you can apply for funding (Skills for Care) for training for you as an employer or for your support staff. The funding can be used to cover the cost training and the cost of putting in place additional PA/ support worker cover to enable you to attend training. This workshop will cover: Examples of self-directed care/ How to apply for funding/ Specific training needs. We will be joined by families running self-directed care, trainers Theresa Hodge and Andrew Bruce from Disability Inclusion, Renee Jasper-Griffiths and Training and Development Consultant and East Sussex County Council. To book your place on the workshop, email or call 01424 423555.

How to claim Disability Living Allowance (DLA) Amaze are running a free workshop at Hollington Youth Centre on 7th November 9.45-12.30pm. If your child needs a lot more help than others the same age they may be entitled to DLA, but it’s hard to claim successfully without good advice.This workshop led by Lizzie Batten will help you identify whether your child is likely to get DLA and how to make a strong claim. Whether it is a first claim or a review, this free workshop is for you. Check out the Amaze website/Facebook page for booking details

Wills and Trusts - Planning for the Future (Wednesday 5th Dec 10-1pm Kings Centre Eastbourne)  East Sussex Parents and Carers Council host Philip Warford, managing Director of Renaissance Legal. Millies Nightclub
Millie's is a nightclub for adults with learning disabilities. You can find them every second Friday of the month at the Green Room, Hastings or every third Friday of the month at the Chaseley Trust Eastbourne. Doors open at 7pm.

Boathouse offer performing arts sessions for children and adults who are living with intellectual and physical disabilities in East Sussex
